¢How many props do you need?

we will need around 14 props, all of which will add to the mise en scene. This will give the audience more evidence to who the character is and what is may be capable of.

¢What do you need? and why?

glass - this will be to poor the whisky into

whiskey (bells whisky) - showing the characters desire to drink and his alcholism
apple juice - to replace the whisky with

old wine bottles and beer cans - connoting his alcoholism
cigarettes - showing the negatives as he is addicted to cigarettes as well, this also shows how
broken lighter - this is necessary as we cant have our actor smoking as he does not smoke as well as the fact that it is against safety obligations to smoke inside, this way we can show his need for a cigarette without creating any health hazards
used ash tray - to show that he has smoked there before 

police documents or police badge - this gives the character a link with the police whether it be him working for the police or him getting many police notices
newspapers - this gives another element to the messyness of the room to show the character has lost control of his life

framed photo of a young girl (his daughter) - this gives a connection to his daughter, that way the audience can see he feels some sort of regret or guilt with something that happened with the girl in the photo

hammer - this will be used in the first room to show to the audience that the character is not exactly a 'good guy' and the he will use it to kill the girl in the other room

duck tape and rope -  to tie up the teenage girl

¢Do you need to make or add anything?

I need to print out the police documents and make sure there are several different kinds and make them look read or old.

I also need to purchase a lighter and break it so that our actor does not accidentally light the cigarette, for safety reasons.

The whisky needs to be emptied and filled with the apple juice. I need to make sure that the whisky bottle is completely empty and clean so that it does not taste like a mixture of apple juice and whisky. We do not want to have a drunk actor by the end of our shoot.

¢Where are you getting them?

The glasses will be at Jamie's house

The whiskey and the apple juice will be purchased by Georgie's mum and will be taken to the shoot by the actor as none of u sin the group are 18
The old bottles and beer cans will be brought in by all of us as we want a large amount of them so we have asked our parents to keep whatever bottles they finish for us to use
The cigarettes are being purchased by Jamies father.
I have asked my sister to purchase a lighter and I looked up how to disconnect the gas from the spark to make it not work
The ashtray was bought by Jamie as we wanted a crystal ashtray
I have to order a badge online however i have found it quite difficult to find a real enough looking badge so as a back up i will print out police documents that will be just as effective
The newspapers are being collected by each member of the group from different family memebers to have enough for the shoot day
The photo and frame will be taken from Jamies house as he has many photos of his elder sisters that will work for the role of the daughter.
The hammer is being brought in by one of our teachers as he got it from the theatre department, and Jamie will have one at his house for back up
The duck tape is being bought by Jamie and Georgie is bringing in the rope

1) Enters room drops his keys on table
2) A detailed Panning of the room with a series of close ups of individual props.
3) Close up of the table as he puts his whiskey glass down and pours bells whiskey into glass.
4) Walking with drink with sound effects of the ice in the whiskey glass. Maybe try tracking shot.
5) Sits down (ALL OF THIS IS A SHOT OF THE BACK OF HIM) mid shot
6) over the shoulder shot of his drinking the drink, party music fades in halfway through his drink.
7) Forcefully puts drink onto side table close up and then the glass shakes with the same beat of the music.
8) Takes cigarettes out of his jacket pocket, with the ash tray already on the side table high angle close up and with the hammer on the side table also being revealed.
9) close up and tilt of him trying to light the cigarette, however the lighter doesn't work.
10) Close up of the back of his head with movement of frustration as he gets angry we zoom out and get him throwing the lighter at the wall.
11) Music gets louder and we get a side view and close up of his face with a facial expression of frustration.
12) Tilt down to feet where we reveal a close up of Florence and her situation.
13) then there is knocking at the door and the father turns his face to the door revealing a mid shot of his concern.
14) sounds join together and get bigger with a p.o.v shot of her viewpoint of him looking down at her. The phone rings whilst this is happening and he still looks intensely at her with no reaction the sound.
15)  Eye line match shot of his face (close up) and then a (close up) of the hammer.
16)  carries on with a close up of his face as he moves to get the hammer and moves back in to the shot and back into the same place.
17) her p.o.v shot of him about to hit her with the hammer, with the sounds coming to an optimum climax

How does your film fit in the ethos of the institution? 

Unfortunately our film would not be picked up by a big distribution company like warner bros or 20^th century fox because we do not have the famous actors that would be useful in the advertisement section of the distribution. Vertigo films however do make relatively low budget films which would fit with my thriller, although we would have to include several special effects that may raise the cost a fraction. I can definitely see my thriller being advertised on their website as it fits in with many other thrillers they have produced as well as crime films. My thriller would be a nice mix and addition to the variety of films they make annually.

How would you make money out of your film – would it be shown in an art house cinema a chain cinema. 

I would make money out of my film by advertising it around areas where it is more youthful. I think it would shown in a chain cinema as it would be a very popular genre and would be successful among a large crowd of young to adults. Trailers should be sent on radios and TV's and posters should be made on buses and sub way trains as well as the stops. It would be released as a DVD as well as premiering in cinemas.

Why would your chosen company wish to make your film?

Vertigo Films would make my film because they are a small British film production and distribution company that have been very successful in thriller/crime genres which is what my thriller is. They are also local, based in London. They're mission is to create and distribute commercially driven independent cinema. This works conveniently with my thriller as we are independently filming and creating our film, as well as us being able to spread the word of our thriller via internet uses i.e. online posters and ads.

What other films have they made in a similar vein to yours?

Vertigo Films has produced several outstanding films that have been successful in the box offices that are similar to my thriller idea. The movies they have made vary between thriller and crime i.e. The Sweeney, which got a nomination for a British Independent Film Award for Best Achievement in Production, The Football Factory, which won a Kodak Award for Best Cinematography, Spring Breakers, winning over 10 awards pertaining to the Production and Cinematography. All of the latter are crime based films that Vertigo Films produced and achieved high ranks in doing so. They have also created thrillers i.e. Monsters, which won British Independent Film Award for Best Achievement in Production, Best Technical Achievement and Best Director, I'm the Angel of Death is a crime and thriller which is similar to my thriller. It was very successful which is why I think my thriller would also be successful.

What age (remember it should be within 3-4 years, and reflect your certificate)?

The age group that would be our ideal target audience is 15-18 year old, seeing as though we have a significant amount of violence that would not be suitable for younger than 15 however our violence would be strategically edited so that the goriness would not be displayed very much, therefore allowing 15 year olds to watch it.

žWhat gender?

The gender that my thriller would most likely appeal to is males, as I believe that they would appreciate the storyline as well as the thrilling moments in the film more than a woman would.

žWhat will they be like and be into?

They would mostly enjoy TV shows such as CSI and psychological films that would make them think. They would stereotypically do well in school but not the ultimate nerd as they still appreciate film and music. They would be into music such as Led Zeppelin, Pierce the Veil, Breathe California etc.

žWhy would they like your film?

They would like my film because it has an original story line and a constant revelation that would make the audience want to keep watching.

žHow will you attract them within the first 2 mins?

The way in which my 2 minute opening sequence would attract them is because within two minutes we would have a lot of suspense and an effective ending that would intrigue them and want to know more about the character and who he has just killed. It brings up a lot of questions that would make our audience want to keep watching the film.

How are they similar?
Taken and our Thriller have similar plot lines as they are both about a male protagonist who search for their missing daughter.

What have you changed
The only difference is that in Taken the father knows that his daughter has been kidnapped where as in our thriller the father is aware that his daughter is dead and he wants to find out the reason for her death, and the events of the night that his son died to cause the death of his daughter.

Dexter

How are they similar?
Dexter is a crime based TV Film, focusing on a male protagonist, which is similar to our film as the protagonist investigates the crime scene in which his son died, which then caused his daughter to die. Dexter, like our protagonist, has a profession that requires him to investigate crimes. They are similar, as they are portrayed as the good guys at first however, they are both discovered to be murderers. They both kill in revenge.
What have you changed?
The differences are found in the fact that my thriller is a film, where as Dexter is a TV show, as well as the fact even though they are both murderers, dexter kills several people and does it to previous murderers who have gotten away with their crime, where as my main character only kills the girl responsible for the death of his children.


CSI

Both CSI and my thriller follow the crime thriller genre. They both include murderers and investigations that lead to missing people or dead.
What have you changed?
Firstly, CSI is a TV show where as ours is a film, this can be quite a difference seeing as though there is much more to include in a TV show rather than a film. There is also only one story line in my thriller, where as in CSI they have several different crime investigations going on at different times as well as them dealing with many different characters and situations.

Prisoners

How are they similar?
Both films include a male protagonist who investigate how and why their daughter has gone missing. They both provide a thrilling aspect as well as a means of sympathy as we see the sensitive side of the males as they break down because they have lost their daughter.
What have you change?
They differ as in Prisoners, the male character does not know whether or not his daughter is alive, where as in my thriller, the male character is aware of the death of his daughter, however he does not know what led to her death.
