Pitch for Group Idea #1

ELECTRIC FEEL - MGMT

Here is the music video for Electric Feel's MGMT. We decided to change the name of the band to AMPM. Sasha made this digipack with different iPhone applications to get with the feel of the music video and website.

For our performance element we thought that the scene in the studio, where we would dress up the studio looking like this

All three scenes include a performance, the main performance element will be with the main singer in the studio that has been done up looking like the inside of a tent, with boyish elements in them to allow the audience to understand the scenario. There he will be singing into the camera as his mates hang around in the background, either smoking, drinking or messing around. We will approach this by researching the insides of tents and the different things that boys do when they hang out. As we are an all girl group we will have to do further research instead of relying on the male in the group to contribute to the set. We think that if it looks more like a boys room where its messy and untidy and there are beer cans and broken things around, it will adhere to the conventions of "lost boys". Although very different, there are a few similarities between our idea and the way that the band the 1975 portray themselves, which is a perfect example of the "lost boys" aspect. This will help us launch the artist because it will show that they are not all about the fame and money but more into the music and their individuality.

The second performance element will have the main guy walking down the street with his mates following him and as he sings they will be causing havoc in the street, i.e kicking bins and making a mess. We thought of having a street that looks like a small town street to therefore link in with the "lost boys" idea that its not about the city life but the small village life, and getting lost in the woods. Sasha suggested a street where she knows not a lot of people go, therefore effective for a shooting day as well as the fact that it leads into the woods, which would then allow us to have the narrative of the music video flow better.

For the third performance element we want the boys in the woods and they will have masks, paint flares, glitter bombs, fairy lights, smoke machines, targets on trees, bow and arrows and toilet paper around the trees. They will be messing around again, while the main singer sings into the camera, we will then see them near the tent which will allow the audience to make the connection to the studio scene with the woods scene. This will be set just outside our school as we are very much in the woods, so location wise it is very accessible to us. We will have to buy and pre-order all of the props and make sure that we get enough footage of what is happening and that our idea is conveyed properly. This final bit will end up linking all the scenes together.
